The foil is a practice weapon. Its tip is blunted — capped with a button — so a full-force touch lands without wounding. Before the match and after it, both fencers lower their blades in salute, an acknowledgment that opens and closes the encounter regardless of who scored. The rules assign right of way: whoever attacks first earns the point, unless the other parries and answers correctly. You can only win by responding well to what's been thrown at you.

The blade was dulled on purpose. Somewhere between wanting to be believed and refusing to disappear, there's a kind of contact trained rigorously enough to look like it didn't cost a thing. This week asks you to get fluent in that difference — to hit your mark, sell the exchange, let the room believe the blade found its target, and walk off exactly as whole as you arrived. Venus in Libra wants the choreography beautiful: every parry considered, every fall landing at the right angle for the light. Saturn wants the structure tested — can you hit the same mark eight shows a week? And Mars, opposite Lilith, wants something wilder underneath all of it: the illusion of real danger, close enough to actual violence that the room gasps, while the two of you know exactly where the blade stops.

When in light: gloriously entertaining! The body is invigorated and nothing can stop you, especially if the choreography is pretty.

When in shadow: even though you have rehearsed it over and over, you still must be the one who wins, who dominates your scene partner.
