Howdy <3 Allow me to make a case for approaching your personal astrology as parts work... I've spent years learning astrology — studying dignities, house systems, aspect patterns. I can tell you about your chart in exhaustive detail. But somewhere along the way, I felt that knowing about the chart and having contact with it are two entirely different things. Contact means you don't just know your Venus is in Capricorn — but that you've met her. You know what she wants, how she moves, what she's afraid of. [And, you can tell when her fear is quelled or very, very present.] The chart stops being a list of data points you analyze and becomes a living practice: a way to access parts of yourself that don't always speak in words. This is the work I'm building — a methodology that sits at the intersection of Hellenistic astrology and Jungian active imagination. Three benefits of meeting your planets where they are: 1. Embodied self-knowledge When you engage the chart through active imagination rather than intellectual analysis, you access what psychologist Eugene Gendlin called the "felt sense" — the body's pre-verbal knowing (Focusing, 1978). You're not memorizing traits. You're feeling Venus's actual texture in your life. 2. The chart becomes a living practice, not a static map James Hillman argued that psychological work requires "personifying" — treating inner figures as autonomous beings with their own voices (Re-Visioning Psychology, 1975). Your planets aren't supposed to be personality assessments. They're parts of you, that we're invited to be in relationship with. And like any relationship, they deepen with attention over time. 3. Integration over information Carl Jung's core insight: making the unconscious conscious is the work of individuation (The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious, 1959). The chart names unconscious material. Active imagination integrates it. And so while you collect understanding of your natal chart's data, you are asked to go deeper with meeting and learning about your many parts of self. And how they work together. Three quick updates: Creative Access #8 just went live on Substack — my interview with cultural producer and artist Monica Miller, paired with a reading of her chart. Read / watch here. Shadow Summit registration is open — a free virtual event May 2 with keynote Barry Michels, co-produced with Ashley Abubakar of Moonshadow. Register here. Parts & Charts Season 2 launched last month. Chelsea Owens and I are going deeper into making contact with our planets as parts. This season is full of juicy guest episodes and Astro 201 episodes - for the people ready to get into the real meat and potato techniques of astrology. Listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Subscribe on Substack for the video versions and the free resources we send out occasionally. One invitation: I'm opening a handful of practice sessions in May — 60-minute guided experiences of the Astro Parts methodology (very much at the beginning of its development!). You'll meet one of your planets through active imagination and witness what happens when contact replaces interpretation. These practice calls are experiential research. And I hope they are emotionally nourishing for you too. I want to know what this work makes possible when it's done live, one-on-one. If you're interested, fill out this form. I'll reach out in May when I'm ready to schedule. XOXO, KP Kaszubowski Sources: Gendlin, E. T. (1978). Focusing. Bantam Books. Hillman, J. (1975). Re-Visioning Psychology. Harper & Row. Jung, C. G. Hi! I have a Zoom room that opens at 7am CT, weekdays, between now and the equinox (Sept 23 — maybe longer, depending on my energy). I am using this to finally get my medieval war novel down on the page, and have successfully drafted the first chapter so far! (Messily, illegibly......) I am calling this experiment in time-pressure COUNTER-GLOAMING, and it's for getting our manuscripts written. ASTRO-ARCHETYPE OF THE WEEK // THE FREE SKATE August 30 - September 5, 2026 Item [1]: How Skating Acquired and Lost Its "Figure" article Until 1990, competitive figure skating required something called compulsory figures: hours spent tracing prescribed patterns into the ice before a skater was ever allowed to perform. Judges checked the tracings afterward, on foot, for wobble. After these requirements were released, skating was called "free." But the free skate had restraints. It's four...
